First Nursing Class, Adipex, and Favorite Shakes

Nursing School is Cool

Classes started once again for me this week so I’ve been quite busy. I am taking two online classes: Effective Communication and Introduction to Informatics.

I am proud to announce that I am also taking my first Nursing class which is Health Assessment. I’ll be using Quizlet to help me study for this class and actually purchased premium so I can add pictures and record if I get tired of their robot.

Zabaware does provide some software you can pay for that has higher quality voices but the free one actually didn’t bother me so why pay? I chose their “Text-to-Speech Reader” which is the third option on their download page. I could listen to a lecture while cleaning my desk or playing a game. I learn best by hearing so I find I retain information best this way.

Health Progress

My doctor’s visit went great. The doctor’s office scale said I had lost about 8 pounds since I was last there which is about 2 weeks between visits. Hooray! I will take that!

She also placed me on Phentermine or more commonly known as Adipex. The prescription is 37.5mg but I will be taking half at first. In case you unfamiliar with this drug, it’s used to significantly suppress your appetite but can only be used for a short period of time (about 3 months at the max.) I had to have an EKG before she could even give me the prescription which is due to Adipex is not good for you over a long period of time and most certainly not good for those with heart problems including high blood pressure.

Well, in the long run I think getting quite a bit of weight off of me will be worthwhile so I am taking advantage of how suppressed my appetite is currently. I am aware that as time goes on the pills won’t work as well so I’ll need to be well prepared for when I come off of them in 3 months.

In the meantime, “Aja aja, Fighting!

Also, it’s IdealShape Day #13

Yummy in my Tummy…

I wanted to share my two favorite shakes that I cannot get enough of at the moment! I have yet to find a shake mixture that I enjoy with IdealShape’s Strawberry but I am sure I will find one soon if I try hard enough and get bored enough.

Actually, I think my two favorite shakes are found in IdealShape’s recipe book (found in their 3 Hour Fat Loss eBook)  but I only glanced at those. I did however pin a ton so maybe these are inspirations from there!

Vanilla Orangesicle

  • 1 Scoop of Vanilla IdealShape Meal Replacement Powder
  • 1 Medium sized Orange
  • 1 Cup of Silk Almond Milk Original Unsweetened
  • 3/4 Cup of 2% Cabbot Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 3 to 4 Ice cubes

You can totally use any type of yogurt you want as long as it’s plain but I am in LOVE with the brand Cabbot. Seriously, if you haven’t tried them – give them a lick. Sometimes I use half a cup instead of 3/4 a cup if I can’t find a measuring cup but I’d recommend staying with Greek as it carries a better flavor and slightly different consistency.

*** Because of the Yogurt this will make a larger shake than the below one so I’d make this one in the morning or before or after a workout.

Chocolate Banana & Peanut Butter Goodness

  • 1 Scoop of Chocolate IdealShape Meal Replacement Powder
  • 1 Medium sized banana
  • 1 Cup of Silk Almond Milk Original Unsweetened
  • 2 Tbsp Creamy Peanut Butter (Any brand)
  • 3 to 4 Ice cubes

I am a SUCKER for peanut butter! Due to the larger amount of carbohydrates in this one, it’s perfect for before or after a workout!
